ACTINIC CATALOG/BUSINESS - MERCHANT COURSE - 1 Day
PRE-REQUISITES
Students should be PC literate and be familiar with using Microsoft Excel to a basic level and know how to use a browser. This course is open to anyone wishing to gain a basic knowledge of the software.
INTRODUCTION
This course provides students with knowledge and skills necessary to use Actinic Catalog/Business to a basic level, to be able to create their own sections and products manually and will also to be able to create import files in a Spreadsheet to build bulk data for Importing. They will learn to build their own company Terms and Conditions such as About Us and Warranties. Use of Taxing and Shipping will be discussed. Scenarios will be used to complete an order and to review the order processing facility in the software. Stock Monitoring will be reviewed and discussed. For students using Actinic Business it will provide insight into Customer Accounts, Price Scheduling and External Linking to a database or spreadsheet.
At Course Completion
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Understand the principles of Ecommerce
- Understand the two modes of the software - Upload/Preview
- Understand the use of the Content Management facility
- Create Sections and Products
- Create Products with unique Product ID’s
- Build a Spreadsheet of data for importing data into the software
- Build the shop's Terms and Conditions
- Use Tax and Shipping
- Complete an Order and have an understanding of the order processing facility
- Use Stock Monitoring
- Understand the Search facility and use of Meta tags
- Understand the reasons why merchants may use the Business product
- Understand the principles of linking to an external file

| Overview of Actinic | Who are we? What involvement do we have with the e-commerce industry? |
| What is E-Commerce? | An explanation of ecommerce will be given. |
| Preview Mode and Upload | Comparison of the merchant's view with the customer's view of the shop. Students will place an order to become familiar with the shopping experience. Uploading and previewing will be discussed and the differences will be noted. |
| Getting Started | Building Sections and Products - an exercise on each. » Flat file import - Adding values to an Excel file, which has already been set up, explanation of how to save as .csv format, and the rules which need to be followed when setting up a file with or without Product references enabled. » Use of the Import Wizard. |
| Business Settings | Students will learn how to build Terms and Conditions such as About us and Warranties, etc. Also Payment and Security Options will be discussed. |
| Tax | Students will discuss tax implications for their shop and find out how to apply different rates of tax to the products in their shop. |
| Shipping | Students will discuss shipping implications for their shop and find out how to apply shipping charges to the shop. |

| Price Schedules and Quantity Based Pricing - | Students will learn how to set up price schedules and initiate quantity based pricing. |
| Customer Accounts | Students will set up their own account and attach a price schedule. This pricing will then be tested online. |
